The Traits of Bosses Everyone Wants To Work For

The saying that employees quit their jobs mostly because of their bosses is not a joke. As much as employees dislike a toxic work environment, they also value a great boss. Being a good boss is very crucial in achieving a lot. From employee engagement, retention to motivation and overcoming employee silence. Workers clearly understand the traits of bosses they would love to work for and bosses are expected to respond to that fact accordingly.

We’ll be looking at three traits of bosses that make them outstanding. They could also teach how to be a good boss while providing what it takes to be an unforgettable boss.

A boss that supports career development

The truth is that no matter how bad employees would want to be out of a job, they always thrive more in a place that nurtures their zeal to be better. If you are in a job and you have no passion to improve or make progress in terms of your career, that job is not for you!

There is a need to improve on what we know, and a boss has a huge part to play in seeing it happen. Amongst all other reasons, a great boss should be one that makes the needed effort that employees need to foster growth in developing their career. That’s what makes you a great boss.

A boss with a vision and provides feedback

For every single firm, there is a vision it runs with. A great boss also runs with a vision! His vision and that of the company correlates at all times and so he makes his employees run with the same vision. It will really be appalling being in a job and you don’t even know what you are working towards.  This is one of the crucial traits of a good boss.

An exceptional boss every now and then reminds his employees the vision they are working to achieve.

An exceptional boss every now and then reminds his employees the vision they are working to achieve. He is a team player, and in his capacity, helps his employees to actualize their dreams.  A good boss also gives feedback to his employees. It would be otherwise frustrating to work in a place and the boss does not give you feedback on anything, as to whether progress is being made or not. He makes it a duty too to give credit to exceptional performances made, hence encouraging other employees.

A boss that’s emotionally intelligent and respects employee feelings and perspectives

A boss is not complete if he is not humane! It is very easy to delegate tasks, but as much as you should be in charge of your emotions, if you are not able to understudy the personalities of your employees and discern their different feelings, you may not get the best out of them.

Every employee is very unique in many possible ways, what makes you a great boss is being able to recognize their emotions and differentiate between their feelings. That way, you are sure to buy into the heart of your employees, which is very important in teamwork!
