Employers Can Make ‘Disaster Payments’ to COVID-Affected Employees

When President Trump declared COVID-19 to be a national emergency, it opened the door for employers to provide tax-favored financial assistance to employees affected by the pandemic. Employers doing so should inform employees of the reimbursement process and the procedures for collecting and reviewing requests for relief.
