A former Texas state trooper recently won a $2.4 million verdict in his lawsuit alleging the Texas Highway Patrol failed to accommodate a disability he sustained during military service. The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) prohibits employers from discriminating or retaliating against employees or job applicants because of their military status or military obligations. It also requires employers to reasonably accommodate workers’ service-related disabilities.
