Unemployment Claims Drop to Lowest Level in Over 50 Years

States reported that 187,000 workers filed for new unemployment benefits during the week ending March 19, the lowest level since 1969. New jobless claims have held at pre-pandemic levels since the end of 2021. In contrast, one year ago, over 750,000 workers were initiating new unemployment claims.
