Jobless Claims Trend Lower

States reported that 215,000 workers filed for new unemployment benefits during the week ending Feb. 19, a decrease of 18,000 from the previous week’s revised level. New jobless claims have hovered around pre-pandemic levels since the end of 2021. In contrast, one year ago, nearly 800,000 workers were initiating new unemployment claims.
