U.S. Labor Costs Rose 1.4% in First Quarter and 4.5% Year Over Year

Compensation costs for civilian workers increased 4.5 percent for the 12-month period ending in March, the government reported. The inflation-adjusted value of private wages and salaries fell 3.3 percent over the same period.
