Viewpoint: Firing an Employee with FMLA Leave and Unexcused Absences

Can an employee certified for Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave but who takes plenty more absences for various reasons be legally terminated? A district court ruled yes, but document the reason for each absence/tardy.
