Although earlier this year the IRS issued COVID-19 relief extending Form 5500 filing deadlines for some noncalendar-year benefit plans, the IRS did not extend filing deadlines for calendar-year plans beyond the normal July 31 due date. Plan sponsors unable to file Form 5500 by the deadline should request an extension by filing Form 5558 by July 31.
