Professional Cheeseburger Taster sought to mark National Cheeseburger Day

Many dream jobs regularly get advertised and attract thousands of responders. The “island caretaker” job that was advertised a few years ago by Australia is by far the best till date. A new one to add to the list is: getting paid to eat cheeseburgers.

In honor of the National Cheeseburger Day on Friday, BonusFinder, a casino review portal, announced it will pay $500 to someone who will be a “professional cheeseburger tester” and travel the United States to find the best cheeseburger in the land.

To apply, one must provide their name, email, and written description of why they’d be the ultimate “Cheeseburger Tester.” Entrants must be 21 years old and a resident of the United States or Canada.

The announcement came with a warning too:

“If you’re on a diet, this job might not be the one for you.”

If you think you’ve got what it takes, you have until September 28 to apply. The winner will be announced October 8.

BonusFinder has lifted some nine essential features that the winning taste tester should judge cheeseburgers on:

  • Patty texture
  • Patty seasoning
  • Bun softness
  • Bun taste
  • Complexity of flavors used
  • Relish and/or sauce taste
  • Cheese flavor and creaminess
  • Value for money
  • Quality of the ingredients

National cheeseburger day has been celebrated every year on September 18 since the 1920s. To mark the day, many burger makers offer free burgers or come up with creative ways make new variations on the traditional cheeseburger.

This is not the first time that such odd and interesting job offers have been made. A recent one that this reporter saw was a furniture and furnishings brand advertising for sleep testers to test their mattresses. The only requirement was that you could fall asleep in 10 minutes in a noisy environment if required.

A website earlier offered $1,300 to watch 13 Stephen King movies before Halloween.

Disney offered $1000 to movie fanatics ready to binge-watch movies and a free one-year subscription for Disney+.

German space scientists offered to pay $19,000 to women if they would stay in bed for two months so they could study the effect of weightlessness on them.

BonusFinder itself held an ice cream testing competition last year to determine US’ best ice cream.

Some other quite odd jobs advertised are:

Pizza consultants: they measure the freshness of the cheese, the bubbles on its, choose the right sauce for the ingredients used, and more. You get to travel the world, tasting the various pizzas made by pizzerias.

Professional Snuggler

Not strangely, there is a demand for people who provide some human warmth in the form of snuggles and hugs. Individuals and companies are offering such services. Bear in mind only snuggles and hugs are on offer and nothing more.

Face feelers

They are employed by skincare companies to find out if their products have really improved the skin of customers. The job description is as sensory scientists. They are trained to come to objective conclusions about product usage.

There are sensory testing standards, and people are required to train for a certain period before they can qualify. A highly developed tactile sense is compulsory. Training involves recognizing gels, valves, and cream strength.
