New Jobless Claims Hold at Pre-COVID Level

States reported that 214,000 workers filed for new unemployment benefits during the week ending Mar. 12, a decrease of 15,000 from the previous week’s revised level. New jobless claims have held at pre-pandemic levels since the end of 2021. In contrast, one year ago, over 750,000 workers were initiating new unemployment claims.
