Job Growth Cooled This Summer, Unemployment Jumped in August

U.S. employers added 187,000 new jobs in August, the latest indication that the labor market is slowing down, according to the latest employment report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The pace of job creation is starting to more closely resemble the months before the pandemic, after years of big gains tied to the recovery.
