Initial Jobless Claims Drop Under 400K

States reported that 364,000 workers filed for new unemployment benefits during the week ending June 26, a decrease of 51,000 from the previous week’s revised level. First-time jobless claims had held above 400,000 in recent weeks as employers desperately try to fill open positions. The total number of workers continuing to claim state unemployment benefits rose to 3.4 million.
