Average Family Premiums Now Top $20,000, Employers Say

For employer-sponsored health plans, annual family premiums rose 5 percent to an average of $20,576 this year, a Kaiser Family Foundation annnual survey shows. On average, workers are contributing $6,015 toward the cost of family coverage. Since 2009, average family premiums have increased 54 percent and workers’ contribution have risen 71 percent.
