3 Things Productive Employees Do Before Noon

Many of us struggle to be more productive. Some struggle to get started, while others seem to have a problem maintaining consistency. The answer lies in developing productivity-boosting habits. In this article, you’ll learn what most productive employees do differently.

productive employeesFollow the 80/20 rule.

Also known as the Pareto Principle, the 80/20 rule is a life-changing concept of time management. According to the Pareto Principle, 80 percent of your results come from only 20% of your efforts. The principle was named after Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who observed in the early 1900s that 80% of Italy’s land was owned by 20% of the population. In terms of productivity, this means 80% of your output comes from 20% of action.

The 80/20 rule can be applied to boost your everyday productivity. If you closely look at the items in your To-Do list, you’ll find that a few more important items will generate the most significant results. Identify the key 20% inputs that are generating maximum returns. Find ways to downplay or eliminate the rest from your To-Do list if they don’t create enough value.

Spend your mornings chasing those items which yield greater results. You’re likely to boost productivity while cutting back on wasted time.

Set Deadlines.

Deadlines force you to work on tasks that move you closer to your goals. Deadlines can be incredibly motivating if you know how to set one with a reasonable time frame. At the same time, don’t set up a lax deadline which will further allow you to slack off. Set a deadline which enables you to do quality work. It is equally important to stick to the deadline.

Unitask.

Multitasking is necessary but it may prevent you from focusing on accomplishing what is necessary to do an excellent job. On the other hand, unitasking allows you to be fully emerged and committed to the task at hand. It cultivates mindfulness and produces a higher quality performance.
