3 Insane Workplace Horror Stories, As Told By Real Women

It still seems unreal that many people still have bad work experience stories, especially women. Their workplaces seem so scary to them because of the experiences they have encountered.

Some quit their jobs because of their workplace horror stories, while some do not like to be reminded of them. If you’ve ever watched a horror movie, you can imagine what it feels like to actually experience one in real life. The truth is that no one will like to experience anything like this.

However, some women have provided some of their employee horror stories that have made an impact on their lives.

We’ll be discussing a few bad work experience stories down below.

Some Bad Work Experience stories

The Body shaming

One of the workplace horror stories was written by Stephanie, who works at a hospital as a receptionist. “I recently joined this hospital and I have been doing well for weeks. All of a sudden, my boss called me to her office. I felt she wanted to appreciate the work I’m doing as a newbie. However, it wasn’t the case. She had called me to attack my body features. She said that to continue working at her hospital, I had to lose some weight. This came as a surprise because I’m not fat but I do have a little weight. At that moment, she called a trainer and asked that I become his trainee. I can’t express how embarrassed I felt that day. But, I dropped my resignation letter the next day and never returned.”

The elevator

One of the bad work experiences stories was written by Brenda, who works at a school as a teacher. “I have been working at this school for 4 months and something surprised me a few weeks back. Apparently, I always walked into the elevator after school and did something hilarious. If I was alone in the elevator, I would start to argue with myself and express the anger I couldn’t express to the students, frustrating me. Unknown to me, there was a CCTV camera in the elevator. This particular day, the head of the school called me to the camera room. I wondered if something was wrong, but my mind never went to the elevator. He had said that he would like to show me something interesting he noticed while checking the footage. I was fascinated to find out what it could be. Lo and behold, it was me. I was doing my thing and he was laughing. I felt deeply embarrassed because it means he has been watching this for the four months I have been here.”

The change

One of the office horror stories is written by Priscilla, who works at a hotel as a hotel attendant. “I had worked at my previous job for 2 years. However, an incident occurred, and I had to quit to save myself. A man had come to the hotel to book a room for his business trip. Unfortunately, we got into an argument, and this got the attention of the hotel manager. I was called to her office that day, and she scolded me without hearing my part of the story. Afterwards, she added that the way I dress is the cause of my problems. This came as a shock because I had been working at the hotel for almost 2 years and no one ever addressed how I dressed. Furthermore, I have been doing excellently well at work too. The conversation did not end there as she called upon one of my colleagues to compare both of us and she advised that I get a change of clothes. I felt really hurt and embarrassed. Immediately, I told her I wanted to quit and stormed out of her office in tears. I’m glad I have a better job now.”

Conclusion

Bad work experience stories are a real thing. Some of these workplace horror stories were some of the most embarrassing, hurtful, and dreadful experiences for some people. Office horror stories are scary, and no one wishes to experience them.
